manager, community engagement
Sara Kent worked more than a decade for Coast Law Group, LLP as an Environmental Liaison and Executive Legal Assistant. She has worked to advance public projects such as Pure Water San Diego, and served on Mayor Faulconer’s Pure Water Working Group in 2014. This participation included regular meetings of environmental groups, community organizations, the San Diego County Taxpayers’ Association, and representatives of San Diego City Council elected officials.
Kent has worked with clients seeking minor use permits and land use entitlements, primarily in coastal cities, including executing complex permit applications and facilitating community outreach meetings.
Having developed a passion for civic engagement, Kent spent the majority of 2018 as the Campaign Manager for a mayoral campaign, working side-by-side with engaged, dedicated community activists and implementing significant change alongside them.
Kent serves South Area Vice Chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party, Secretary of the San Diego Labor Democratic Club, which seeks to increase collaboration between local labor union members and Democratic Party activism, and as First Vice Chair of the San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, which advocates for strong environmental policy throughout the County of San Diego and the State of California.
In 2018, Kent was awarded 1st Place in Daily Reporting and Writing Opinion/Editorial by the Society of Professional Journalists.
